Meet Hamid
I am a diabetic patient.
I am married I have three daughters.
My diabetes was diagnosed when I was at a glucose meter training.
At the end of the training class, we had to demonstrate the meter.
All my colleagues checked their sugar and I checked mine.
My colleagues' sugar was normal, but my sugar was 360 (mg/dL).
I couldn't believe it! I did the test again, but got the same result.
I couldn't believe it, because I had no diabetes symptoms.
A doctor diagnosed me and told me that I had diabetes for the past several years.
Ever since my diabetes was diagnosed, my sense of responsibility has increased tremendously.
I've become very serious about my goals.
I used to procrastinate (my care) but now I do it as early as possible and on time.
My family was very supportive of my diabetes - especially my wife.
Where I used to binge on fast food, junk food, and soda, I now avoid it.
My family and I have more beans, salads, and vegetables as part of our diet.
I want to live a very happy life for my family.
Thank you!
My diabetes story: Hamid
